We are dedicated to rescuing small breed dogs from Los Angeles' overcrowded, crumbling shelters and transporting them ONE BY ONE to New York City where loving, forever homes await.
Shelters in Los Angeles are in crisis.
Dogs entering the LA County shelter system are housed in aging facilities that are impossible to clean and maintain. Animals are routinely euthanized due to lack of space and funding to address even minor medical conditions, rates are sky-high.
As a No Kill Los Angeles Coalition Partner, Waggytail Rescue is doing all we can to rescue and rehome California's At-Risk small dogs. Just like in NYC, we are rescuing and placing them in loving foster homes, treating medical conditions, and rehabilitating scared and confused pups to get them ready for their second start in life!
All our dogs are available for adoption in Los Angeles until they are transported to NYC where demand for small, apartment-sized dogs is high. Unlike other bicoastal rescue groups, we are exclusively flying dogs in cabin with volunteer chaperones. We provide the carrier & reimburse the dog's ticket!
We are looking for LA based fosters to look after our Waggy West pups before transportation to New York! Our Waggy West dogs will be listed on both our NYC and LA adoptapet pages.
If you are interested in fostering for us in LA, please fill out a FOSTER APPLICATION (docx or copy and paste the text) and send it to with "Waggy West Foster" in the title. Click here to find out what fostering for Waggytail entails!
We need responsible individuals to chaperone our pups on LA-NYC flights. Waggytail rescue will cover the cost of the pup's ticket and will provide a carrier. If you are flying soon fill out a flight chaperone application (Docx) and email to !
We would love to hear from any flight attendants who fly this route and would be willing to take a dog along with them!
We are seeking corporate sponsorship to cover the cost of our rescue flights. If your business would like to sponsor a flight, please contact .
All sponsorship would be promoted on our Facebook page and Instagram account, and promotional links will be placed on our blog and homepage. Photographs of rescued animals and adoption updates can be provided for the sponsor's promotional use.
