When it rains it pours.
A total of 53 cats and dogs made April's adoption Round Up. 30 dogs and 23 cats to be exact. One of our largest months ever. We were on overdrive, working day and night to place these adorable animals in amazing loving homes. How do we do it?
The best we can tell you is, it's divine teamwork.
Many steps and people are involved. It starts with our founder. Holly's vision and her ability to attract intelligent, driven volunteers into Waggytail's operations base is unmatched. Together we survey and scope and brainstorm where animals are in need and how we can get them to us. From there we network and coordinate the transportation of the animals (they come from everywhere - around the block or from different parts of the country and beyond), while simultaneously looking for fosters here in NYC to take them upon arrival. Once in a foster's home, our core volunteers counsel and advise each foster parent, and oversee the dogs (or cats) progress and needs. Some of our volunteers are dedicated to administrative tasks, constantly inputting and updating each intake into our data base. Others advertise and handle social media, while events are organized and held or vet visits for spay and neuter are scheduled and followed up on.
It's all choreographed like a beautiful ballet.
The last peice of course is the best peice. The adoption.
Our volunteers and reference checkers review applications and inquiries, and communicate between the foster and potential adopter. It's a satisfyingly awesome feeling when we can post within our core group "ADOPTED PLEASE CLOSE".
But alas, like laundry, it's ready to be done all over again! ;-)
So take a good long look at these 53 faces and give each a loving smile. It will come back to you tenfold.
